Overview

Salt LS s.r.o. is a leading retailer of electronics, home appliances, garden equipment, and flooring based in Sabinov, Slovakia. Their mission is to provide expert guidance and high-quality products that make every purchase seamless and reliable.

Salt LS commissioned the redesign of their e-commerce site (saltsabinov.sk) to modernize the online experience, highlight their full product range, and support both in-store and online sales.

Problem

  • The online storefront did not fully reflect the breadth of their product range (white goods, black goods, home appliances, garden tools, flooring).

  • Navigation and filter functionality were limited, making it harder for customers to efficiently browse categories like built-in appliances, small kitchen appliances, garden equipment, or flooring.

  • The mobile experience needed improvement to meet modern usability expectations and optimize conversion from browsing to purchase.

  • The brand message emphasizing expert guidance and service was not sufficiently highlighted in the digital journey.

Goals

  • Deliver a clean, modern, responsive layout conveying expertise and service-oriented brand positioning.

  • Improve product discovery via logical category segmentation and clear filtering (e.g., built-in vs freestanding, by brand, by purpose).

  • Simplify and optimize the conversion funnel for both large appliances and smaller home-tech items.

  • Emphasize the in-store / omni-channel aspect to differentiate in a crowded market.

  • Implement content-driven elements like buying guides and service information to reinforce trust and expertise.

Process

Research & Strategy

  • Competitor analysis of appliance and electronics e-commerce sites to identify best practices.

  • Mapped customer journeys for two main personas: large-appliance buyers and small-accessory buyers.

  • Defined content architecture to support both high-value transactions and frequent small-item purchases.

Information Architecture

  • Sitemap: Home → Shop (White Goods, Black Goods, Home Appliances, Garden Equipment, Flooring) → Product Filters → Product Pages → Service/Delivery Info → Cart/Checkout → Blog/Guides.

  • Navigation designed to differentiate core categories and support cross-category discovery.

Visual Design

  • Clean white background with subtle steel/metal accent tones to reflect appliance materials; accent brand colors highlight offers and assistance.

  • Typographic hierarchy balances clarity and professionalism.

  • Hero visuals feature real-life home contexts and in-store service interactions to reinforce trust.

Solution

  • Category pages with rich filtering by size, energy class, built-in vs freestanding, capacity.

  • Product pages with detailed specs, comparison features, service/delivery options, and “Need expert help?” callouts.

  • Streamlined mobile-first checkout with multiple payment/delivery options.

  • Optimized site performance for fast loading and smooth browsing.

  • Added “Buying Guides” section to support brand expertise.
